The Pillar of Community.
A. History of Blessed Margaret of Castello, OP.
Anita Moore, OPL will be taking on the monthly task this year of presently a phase of Blessed Margaret of Castello's life, her charisms, her personal history, and God's blessings she bestows on all those who come to know this dear lady Margaret.
Blessed Margaret doesn't fit the feminist salons and coffee shops of the modern world, or the rantings of political or ideological thought seeking the demands and judgment of the world, but reflects the dearly humble, and quiet solicitude of a blessed woman. Blessed Margaret would have been aborted in her time, as her parents scorned her and abandoned, but she accorded God with all her blessings, and truly embodied in this world the reality that God turns to Good all things for those who love Him. She cares for the physically disabled, the anxious, and those with many temporal, physical, and other problems. In many ways, she has truly blessed us all. We look forward to Anita's presentations.
B. Commitment to Community from Paul Russell, T.O.P. About the Fellowship of Grace, as a place where the Word of God is nurtured, and where we become a deeper part of the family of God. [Handouts at meeting].
C. Dominican Life is Fraternal Chapter VII, of the book, Dominican Spirituality, by Wm. Hinnebusch, OP. See, Chapter VII. Read and Review this chapter, and how the "heart of Dominican life is brotherly love."
D. Biblical passages and community. Review the following from the Holy Scriptures and discuss the nature of community and its aspects to the Dominicans.
1. Mark 2:15-17; 6:7-13; 9:30-37; 10:13-16, 35-45; 12:28-34.
2. John 10:7-16; 13:1-16, 34-35; 15:1-17; 17:1-
3. Acts of the Apostles 2:42-47; 6:1-7; 11:1-27.
4. Romans: 8:14-30.
5. Galatians 4:3-7.
The Gospels and life in the early Church demonstrates the initial Christian community of being part of a family--of being of the the "called out ones" or ecclesia (church). Discuss these verses from Holy Writ and discuss how we can contemplate Our Lord, and know that "through St. Dominican and his companions, we are invited to contemplate, from a particular point of view, the example of our Lord ...who went about tirelessly proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom of God." Simon Tugwell, OP, Ed., Early Dominicans, Selected Writings )Ramsey, NJ; Paulist Press, 1982) p. xiv.
Next month, please see the link for Sunday, 19 November 2006. At that time, we will not only discuss Blessed Margaret of Castello, OP, but we ill discuss (1) some preaching on St. John's Gospel, (2) study the Essential Elements of Dominican Spirituality, (3) listened and prayed by example the Liturgy of the Hours, and (4) studied the Rule of St. Dominic.
Remember, always bring your Holy Bible to each session.

"For it is the nature of Mercy to incline the superior person toward the inferior one, not to subordinate the former to the latter but to elevate the inferior person. In ths way, when the Word became incarnate He bent down in order to restore the primitive order, the original harmony, and even to raise this primitive order far above its original level by united Himself personally to human nature and thus, manifesting to us the most perfect manner possible His omnipotence and His goodness." Our Savior and His Love for Us, by Reginald Garrigou-LaGrange, OP (B. Herder Book Co., St. Louis, MO (1951)). pp. 115,116.
